Matching quizzes can be quite helpful for assessing students’ knowledge. With authoring software like iSpring Suite, you can make such quizzes even more engaging.

A matching question is a question in which students need to pair text with text selections from dropdowns. You can get learners to match concepts with their appropriate definitions, events with data, geographical shapes with the countries where they’re located, and much more.

In this article, we’ll guide you step by step on how to create a matching quiz with iSpring QuizMaker. If you still don’t have it, you can download it for free right now.

How to Create a Matching Quiz Step by Step

  1. Install iSpring QuizMaker on your computer.
  2. Open the app and tap on Graded Quiz

Note: If you want to make the task harder, add extra matches in the Additional Matches field.

  1. In the Slide Options area, you can configure individual settings for the question.

  • Specify if your users will see feedback messages saying whether the answer is correct or wrong. Select By Result if you want them to receive feedback and choose None if not.
  • Set up the number of attempts the learners will have to answer the question. After each failed attempt, they will be asked to answer the question one more time.
  • Put a time limit on the question if you wish.
  • Have the shuffle answers option turned on so that the choices are displayed in random order.
  • Choose whether or not you want to accept partially correct answers.
  1. Move on to setting up feedback. You can change your feedback message for correct or incorrect answers. You can also change the branching. Send your user back to the beginning of the group if they get the question wrong, or even make them start the quiz from the very beginning.

You can also adjust your scoring for the correct and incorrect answers. Set it up to subtract points for the wrong answer, if necessary.
